Rebuilding After The Texas Panhandle Fires

We may be able to help.

The Smokehouse Creek Fire is the largest wildfire in Texas and has scorched more than a million acres—making it one of the most destructive wildfires in U.S. history. The fire has consumed homes, businesses, devastated cattle ranchers, and has killed at least two people.

The fire ignited on February 26th one mile north of Stinnett, TX and merged with a smaller fire called the 687 Reamer Fire. The blaze has spread through Hutchinson County, Roberts County, and Hemphill County devastating towns and livelihoods in its path.

While the potential cause of the fire is being investigated, the suspected origin is a power line owned and operated by Southwestern Public Service Company (SPS)—a subsidiary of Xcel Energy. SPS operates power lines and electrical distribution systems in the region where the fire originated which may have been toppled by the high winds in the area.

Edelson PC is investigating claims against Southwestern Public Service Company, Xcel Energy and potentially other parties who we believe are liable for the Texas Panhandle Fires including the Smokehouse Creek and the 687 Reamer Fires. If you suffered property damage, personal injury, or business loss, or if you were forced to evacuate as a result of the Texas Panhandle Fires, you may have a claim for damages.
